Caran D'ache Neopastels: Neopastels are professional quality oil pastels with superb smoothness and blendability. These pastels are absolutely dustless.  They are made from permanent pigments that are equally suited to intense coloring, delicate shading, and subtle transition of hue.  The Art Box carries open stock and sets.

CarbOthello Pastel Pencils: Top quality pastel encased in a wood pencil, CarbOthellos sharpen well allowing for a fineness of detail often hard to get with pastels. Available in a wide array of beautiful colors, they are highly blendable and watersoluble. They're as easy to use as colored pencils, but produce a wonderful soft pastel surface. Made by Schwan-Stabilo of Germany in the Czech Republic. The Art Box carries sets and open stock.

Expressionist Cray-Pas Oil Pastels: Extremely smooth to apply, high school students, hobbyists and artists can express their spirit with broad strokes, blending colors, to build texture and depth. From dramatic to muted, flamboyant to quiet, the color range allows users to convey any inspired feeling or imaginative image. The Art Box carries sets.

Holbein Oil Pastels: Each stick offers uniformity of color distribution and handles evenly and cleanly without stickness. Holbein oil pastels blend nicely. They are used extensively over acrylic and oil color. Holbein oil pastels will not readily break or crumble. Because of the wax content and use of highly refined mineral oil they will never harden completely eliminating the drying out and cracking that can be seen in pastels that use vegetable oil. Great performance without health risk; Holbein oil pastels are rated as requiring no health label according to the ASTM health standards. The manufacturer recommends that no attempt be made to fix the surface but suggests mounting under glass.  The Art Box has an open stock.

Pentel Oil Pastels: This student grade oil pastel has wonderful clear, brilliant colors that apply smoothly. They blend easily for subtle shades, tints and color mixtures. They are long lasting and fade resistant. Made in Taiwan. The Art Box carries sets.

Prismacolor Nu Pastels: These are the best selling hard pastels in America. They are very inexpensive and come in a wide range of colors. Try using them on suede matboard or sanded pastel paper. Often, pastel artists use hard pastels for sketching in the basic form of the drawing and then use soft pastels for the highlights. The Art Box carries sets and open stock so you can choose the colors you like best to add to your pastel collection.

Rembrandt Soft Pastels: We offer you the full range of Rembrandt colors in open stock. Rembrandt pastels are made from the purest pigments and mixed with the finest quality kaolin clay binder. No pigments containing heavy metals, such as cadmium, lead, and cobalt, are used in production which ensures that the pastels have no hard bits or sharp edges. These pastels are harder in consistency than many soft pastels, allowing for more control and definition in your painting. Full sticks measure 2-3/4" long × 7/16" diameter (70 mm × 11 mm). They are paper wrapped, and are sold individually. Half sticks are available only in sets.

Schmincke Soft Pastels: (Shming-kuh.) Incredibly smooth, soft handmade pastels that are a joy to use. The size of the stick is so substantial that you'll really feel like you're getting your money's worth. Each one is paper wrapped to keep you fingers clean for effective smudging. The Art Box carries the entire line of Schmincke Soft Pastels and also sets.  We have some samples on display for you to try, so come by and feel them flow over the paper.

Sennelier Soft Pastels: Sennelier extra-fine soft pastels are the Rolls Royce of pastels at a surprisingly affordable price. The intensity of their pigments and their exceptional softness will be appreciated by anyone who works in pastels. Made the same way, by hand since 1900, they were the favorites of Degas. The purest pigments are mixed with minimal amounts of natural binders to yield lightfast, watersoluble pastels. They are highly concentrated and so soft that a gentle stroke delivers a solid, powerful line of brillant color. Made in France. The Art Box carries sets. The entire range of 552 colors is available by special order.

Sennelier Oil Pastels: Sennelier Artists' Quality oil pastels were originally developed in collaboration with Picasso in the 1940's. These creamy, lipstick-like pastels are rich in pigment, very opaque and lightfast. Created in a palette very close to oil paints, they may be thinned with turpentine and worked with a brush. They are acid-free and can be applied to any surface, paper, canvas, wood, or metal, for mixed media works. Sennelier Oil Pastel Fixative is available in a pump spray bottle. Made in France. The Art Box carries sets.

Unison Soft Pastels: Probably the most talked about pastel for the past few years, these handmade pastels come from the studio of John Hersey in the hills of Northumberland, England and have taken artists by surprise. They are incredibly soft, many containing no binders at all, being solid pigment rolled with a little water and allowed to air dry. Others use a little weak starch or gum to hold them together without interfering with the color. No other pastels flow so smoothly into the tooth of the paper. Of course, they are expensive, they're virtually solid pigment, and they are so soft it can be hard to control the flow of the color, but they'll make you smile. Made in England. The Art Box carries sets and open stock.
