 Watercolor
Gouache
Tempera
Cotman Watercolors:
8 ml. tubes. These good quality transparent watercolors are Winsor
and Newton's student grade paint. They combine good tinting
strength and working properties at an economical price. Because
of it's name recognition and its low price, this is the best selling
brand of watercolors. Made in England. The Art Box
carries sets and open stock.
Holbein Transparent Watercolor:
Holbein
Artists' Watercolors are imported from Japan, a country with the
oldest professional watercolor tradition in the world. Japanese
colors have always been renowned for their brilliance, and Holbein
continues in the same tradition.
For more than a
century, the Holbein color laboratories have produced a full-range
palette of transparent watercolors that not only achieve
world-class standards in lightfastness and color vigor, they also
retain their clean, crisp, brilliant characteristics over long
periods of time.
Holbein does not
contain ox-gall or any other dispersants that inhibit optimum
brush handling qualities. This makes Holbein ideal for painting in
the Japanese watercolor tradition, where brushstrokes are often
preserved. Holbein is the perfect choice for fine detail work such
as lettering and scrolling. The Art Box carries 5mL tubes

Koi Watercolors:

Strong, vibrant colors with excellent transparency. Inexpensive,
12 and 18 color sets in plastic 12 ml. tubes. Made in Japan. The

Pelikan Transparent Watercolor and Opaque
Paint:
These watercolors from Germany are
made from high quality pigments of the finest grain size. Easily
soluble, they deliver good light-fastness with brilliant, dense
colors.
Opaque paint sets contain a large
lid palette with deep mixing wells in an attractive case.
Watercolor sets include watercolors in snap-out pans, two slide
off water cups, a removable palette and a detachable lid palette

Raphael
Aquarelle Watercolors: The Raphael Aquarelle Watercolor Travel
Box is a great little 4-1/2" compact plastic box with 10 half pans
of student quality watercolors. Comes with 12 compartment mixing
areas and the 3-1/2" brush.
Schmincke
Watercolors: (Pronounced Shming-kuh.) This marvelous
German company makes some of the highest quality artist's materials
available anywhere. The watercolors are rich, vibrant and strong.
No chalk or extenders are added to stretch the pigment. The best
gum arabic is chosen from each year's harvest and is ground with
the finest pigments to produce fabulous paint. Classic and modern
hues are represented fully in this line of 110 colors. According
to Hilary Page's Guide to Watercolor Paints,
the Schmincke watercolor line contains more top quality colors
than Winsor Newton. We think you will love painting with these
rich, intense paints. The Art Box carries sets
and open stock in Half Pan, Full Pan and 15 ml tubes.
Sennelier Artists' Watercolors:
Half pans and 10 ml. tubes. Sennelier
chooses only the purest pigments which are cold ground on porcelain
grindstones to avoid heating the pigments which can alter the
color's shade. Bound with gum arabic from Senegal and honey from
the Alps, Sennelier watercolors produce vibrant
colors,delicate transparencies, and subtle tones. The intensity
of the colors is extraordinary, and they possess the distinctive
"satin luminosity" unique to French watercolors. Now available
in a range of half pans that fit in standard field boxes. All are marked for lightfastness. Made in France. The
Art Box carries the tubes, half-pans and the travel
box.
Winsor and Newton Artists'
Watercolors: 5ml. tubes. Known world wide for their
high quality, Winsor and Newton Artists' Watercolors
contain the finest available pigments. Great care is taken to
retain individuality when the pigments are combined with the most
suitable gums, wetting agents and preservatives. The paints contain
the maximum pigment consistent with good handling qualities, thus
achieving the highest possible tinting strength, quality and reliability.

Caran D'Ache Gouache:
Studio
quality, bright colours with good lightfastness levels. The
manufacturing process ensures a thick buttery consistency suitable
for opaque & transparent painting. The Art Box
carries the tubes (10mL and 21mL) and sets.
The
French School Opaque Watercolor - Gouache: 10 ml. tubes
and cakes. Savoir Faire's vibrant paints are
washable and non-toxic. The water soluble paints can be applied
in thick or thin layers on a wide variety of surfaces including
paper, hardboard, plastic, wood and metal. Opaque to semi-opaque
when applied from the tube, when thinned they become transparent
for watercolor effects. These paints are an excellent choice
for color theory instruction and other educational purposes.

M. Graham Gouache: Based mostly on single pigment colors,
this small line of opaque watercolor gouache is a professional's
dream. Every color is dense, rich, and highly pigmented. No
fillers, opacifiers, or adulterants alter the nature of the
colors. The opaque matte finish can stand alone, or be
combined with transparent watercolor to create permanent works of
art. In addition to gum arabic, which is used as a binder in all
other professional gouaches, M. Graham adds pure natural honey.
Honey prevents cracking and increases flow and moistness.
The Art Box

Schmincke Horadam Gouache:
Schmincke Horadam Gouache is more
than just opaque watercolor. Since no white is added to Horadam
Gouche to artifically boost its covering power, it can create
crisp color blends like no other gouache. Of the 48 colors, all
but 8 are based on a single pigment.
Like Horadam Watercolors, colors
thin with water and are easily rewetted if left to dry on the
palette. Horadam Gouache is so finely ground, it can even be used
for 0.15 mm airbrush work.
Many other brands of gouache are
"designer" gouaches, with an emphasis on accurate pre-mixed colors
for use by the designer. By contrast, Horadam is a "fine artist"
gouache, with an emphasis on providing the classic range of
pigments as pure, single-pigment colors. The Art Box
carries an open stock of Horadam's Designer Gouache and
Calligraphy Gouache tubes (20mL).

Sennelier Egg Tempera: Egg tempera is a water soluble and
highly archival painting medium, wonderful for fine art painting,
restoration, and icon painting. It's perfect as an under-painting
for oil painters, or for artists seeking a highly pigmented,
professional alternative to oil paints and solvents.
Sennelier egg tempera has working
qualities and a finish that is only found in authentic egg tempera
made in the traditional manner. These delicate colors hold their
brush strokes, and do not change when dry. Egg tempera can be
worked with a brush or a palette knife (diluted with water) on
non-greasy supports like acrylic primed canvas or paper. The
Art Box carries tubes (21mL).
